When I’m depressed, I’ve found that most people are uncomfortable with the amount of pain I’m in, or they make light of it. Either one makes me feel more hopeless. It’s so hard to find someone who can come alongside and just Be with me. I’m not asking to be fixed. That’s what my Lord will do.

When gripped by depression, even our interpretation of how the other person is responding to us is informed by depression’s odd, dark filter.

Thank you for sharing that. It’s so hard for two humans, though they are three feet apart, to register just what the other is feeling. It’s hard to understand depression, and it is hard to understand the discomfort people feel, which may often be out of love ( though it does not look like it).
