The scene from the Olympics last night was grotesque: a male “trans” boxer, pounding into submission a female boxer. Any sane person could see that it was not a fair fight and could barely watch it play out - a man landing blows on a woman, until she surrendered, tore off her guard, and cried on the mat.
He’s not a woman!, we bark. And we’re right. But how did we get here, we, we modern, enlightened nobles? We got here by allowing women to box and fight in the first place, as if they are just like men, with no difference from men, except that they are smaller and lighter and weaker, and should therefore only fight other women.
But this is not the way of the Bible. Deuteronomy 22:5 commands this:
“A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.”
The word for “a man’s garment” is literally “the gear of a warrior.” God sees violent fighting as a man’s role, and He therefore prohibits women from adopting that role or the appearance of that role.
When this command is violated, it is an “abomination” to God. This is because He has put great glory in each of the two genders, and especially in the female gender. Thus 1 Cor. 11:7 says that men are the glory of God, and women are the glory of men - the glory of the glory, or, possessing the double-glory. A woman besmirches or defaces her God-given glory by adopting the male role and appearance, most vividly displayed in the dress and panoply of a soldier, or, in this case, a boxer.
So by our modern logic, what was really wrong with what happened in that ring last night? We already have a woman acting like a man. Is not the next logical step to have a man acting like a woman act like a man while fighting a woman acting like a man? What’s the problem?
The grotesqueness of the display, the recoil of our minds, the curl of our toes, tell us more wisdom than our modern training in feminism. We “conservatives” bark at what we created, by buying into the more fundamental lies of feminism. Men and women are different, in profound ways. It defaces the glory that God has placed upon women to have her in that ring in the first place.
But, but - someone might object - I know a woman who could drop you like a bag of potatoes in 10 seconds. And you might be right. But that’s on me, and that’s only the exception that proves the rule. The insanities we face today are not solved by barking at the presenting insanity. That’s just rearranging the deck chairs on the proverbial Titanic. It really is Christ or chaos. Either we submit to His Word in full, or we reap what we sow. There is no neutral, non-insane middle ground.
