Read It or Weep
Imagine: a book on masculinity, where the author seems to be for you, as a man. The best book I’ve read on masculinity, by far. Biblical, even-handed, enjoyable, meaty . . . not just another diatribe against men. Simply excellent - read it, or weep:
One man with God is always in the majority. -John Knox (paraphrased)
There are only two kinds of people: those who say to God, “Thy will be done,” and those to whom God says, “All right, then, have it your way.” -C.S. Lewis
Why do so many professing Christian women want the freedom to dress like a prostitute, and so many professing Christian men applaud their desire? -Nathaniel Jolly
Nine times out of ten it is the coarse word that condemns an evil, and the refined word that excuses it. -G.K. Chesterton
The communist regime in the East could stand and grow due to the enthusiastic support from an enormous number of Western intellectuals who felt a kinship and refused to see communism's crimes. And when they no longer could do so, they tried to justify them. -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Virtually no idea is too ridiculous to be accepted, even by very intelligent and highly educated people, if it provides a way for them to feel special and important. -Thomas Sowell
The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it. -George Orwell
He’s Got a Point
Sent to me by J.H. It’s true: a friend lives in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. In the middle of town is a beautiful building that is now a museum, but was once a church. However, when the Soviets invaded, they turned it into a museum dedicated to atheism. My two quibbles with Mr. Sandlin’s excellent point are a) behind the “friends of omnisexuality” is another person who has gone by many names, and his goal is not “omnisexuality” but androgyny - the erasure of God’s two-gendered image on the earth. And b) playing the fault line between parents and kids has always been Disney’s play. There is no “new” Disney.
